![]() Pastels PortraitsMost people say that you can only draw, not paint with pastels. I would challenge this statement. You are a using a paint pigment - just in a different way. I paint with my pastel after breaking it into 1 inch segments which gives me a chance to paint light and shade by covering area not just creating a series of lines.I have always admired the Master Painters (i.e. Degas, Renoir, Manet, Whistler, Toulouse-Lautrec) who painted so beautifully in pastel.
