Painting in watercolours I believe, gives you more tonal contrast and I enjoy focussing more on emphasing detail in the subject. With the Old Man on the homepage, I have tried to capture the rugged soul of this man, which for me meant capturing the detail of his wonderful face. By lying down areas of strong colour, I have hoped to emphasise texture, expression and age.
